CANCELLED

9/7/2011 -- While the fly-in has not been officially canceled we have received the following notice from Shreveport:

• Food service has been canceled because the weather looks iffy and they don't want to be stuck with food no one is going to eat.
• The grass has not been mowed for awhile because of all the rain.  It is pretty long but the strip is still usable.  However, the taxi ways are pretty soft in some areas. This is especially problematic for those who trailer their aircraft to the event as we drive our vehicles and trailers over the taxi ways to our camping spot.  Since we may not be able to do that this trip it is a show-stopper for us.
• Weather forecast shows 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday and 40% for Saturday and Sunday.  This will definitely limit the number of folks who can fly in and out.

So while the field is open for those who are willing to brave the elements the number of folks coming will be down significantly and when combined with the condition of the taxi-ways makes this a no-go for us.

Hopefully we'll see you all next Father's Day.

Fall Fun Flying Trip

This September (9-11) is the 2nd Annual Trike Fest at Footlight Ranch near Gettysburg, PA (Footlight is located in Wellsville which is actually about 30 minutes driving distance from Gettysburg).  Footlight a:

• Beautiful flying area suitable to both trikes and PPCs (70 x 2600 foot lighted grass strip).
• Is an easy flight to historic Gettysburg, and
• Is a friendly airport with a grass strip (and two others within a mile of each other), onsite camping, and will be hosting an Aeronca fly-in the same weekend so there will be lots of aviators to mix it up with.

You are all invited and we hope that we'll see a lot of trikers and PPCers show up. 

Please bookmark this page as we will note any changes and/or notices here.  We will make a final weather decision the morning of Friday, Sep 9th and post it here.  Pray for good weather :-).

Food

Breakfast will be served 8-10, lunch from 10-2, and dinner 5-7.  The menu is still a work in progress but as of 8/15/2011:

• Friday Dinner: Maryland Crab Cakes
• Saturday Dinner: Grilled Steak
• Lunch at the Crosswinds Cafe: Burgers, Dogs, and Chili

Lodging

Camping and bunkhouse beds are available.  Camping is first come first serve.  There is plenty of room so you don't have to worry about not being able to find a space.  If you are looking for a bunkhouse bed you should probably send Footlight an email to let them know in advance.
